Planning the Perfect Autumn Wedding Menu

An autumn wedding is the perfect opportunity to create a menu full of seasonal flavours, warmth, and indulgence. At Thomas the Caterer, we specialise in bespoke wedding catering, helping couples design menus that reflect their personal style while highlighting the best ingredients autumn has to offer.

Canapés

Canapés are a must for an autumn wedding cocktail hour. They give guests the chance to try a variety of flavours and textures whilst mingling, and they set the tone for the rest of the meal. Canapés are not only delicious but also a great way to introduce autumnal ingredients in a fun and elegant way.

Starter

Starters are the first real taste of your autumn wedding menu and an opportunity to showcase seasonal ingredients. Kicking off the season, we served up a delicious maple glazed 5 spice pork belly, with pak choi and toasted sesame seeds.

Autumn is definitely soup season. Whether that’s a pumpkin or squash based soup, an earthy mushroom soup or a classic potato and leek, the options are endless. We served a delicious curried parsnip soup with our homemade focaccia and butter.

Main Course

For an autumn wedding main course, meat often takes centre stage, paired with seasonal vegetables and hearty sides. Using ingredients at their peak ensures your main courses are both delicious and visually stunning, leaving a lasting impression on your guests.

The turning of the leaves also means one thing – pie. Here at Thomas The Caterer, we create award winning pies that have won numerous awards, so we know a thing or two. Pies are a standout option and incredibly versatile. They are completely customisable to suit all dietary requirements without compromising taste or presentation. Our personal favourites (with accolades) are our cauliflower cheese pie for the veggies and our hearty beef bourguignon pie. With creamy mash and lashings of gravy, you can’t go wrong.

Dessert

Autumn desserts are a highlight of any autumn wedding menu. Seasonal fruits, warming spices, and indulgent flavours create the perfect finish. A classic apple tart tatin combines caramelised autumn apples with buttery pastry, offering a comforting and elegant dessert that celebrates the season.

Evening Food

Evening food keeps the party going and ensures your guests leave happy. Options for an autumn wedding can include loaded gyros, stone baked pizza, or pork belly cobs. Serving evening food adds a cosy, satisfying end-of-night touch, making your wedding unforgettable from start to finish.

Every autumn wedding menu we create is completely bespoke. Whether you have a clear vision or want expert guidance, we can bring your ideas to life—from canapés to evening food.
