Back in March, I was lucky enough to be the Wedding Caterer of choice for Alex and Kirsty. Alex is from Holland. He grew up in France and they now both live in Nottingham. Their venue was the delightful East Bridgford Hill Country House and they wanted their menu to reflect their story so far, so called me to help them create a menu YOU

This started with European themed canapes of French Frites with Mayonnaise, Krockett – a Dutch street food made from Beef and Cheese, Chicken Liver Parfait on Brioche with Onion Marmalade and Traditionally Garnished, Dutch Style Herring.

This was accompanied by Vietnamese Pork with mint and chilli nem to remind them of the fond memories they have from their trip to Vietnam and a traditional broccoli and stilton soup with a twist – served from teapots into shot glasses!

Their wedding breakfast began with a breakfast, of sorts! With dressed leaves, Lincolnshire Sausage, Home-cured Bacon, Sauted Potatoes, Oven Dried Tomatoes and a Poached Egg: their breakfast salad went down a treat.

They had then chosen a Pie and Mash main course, with a choice of Steak and local Belvoir Ale or Chicken, White Wine and Tarragon. They were served with copious amounts of Fresh Vegetables, Creamy Mash and Homemade Gravy.

Dessert was entirely the bride’s idea. She went for a delicious Red Berry Knickerbocker Glory complete with Fresh Fruit, locally sourced Ice Creams and Sorbets and Firecracker Sparklers. My famous Cheeseboard closed the deal.

As with all my food, I sourced the ingredients for all Kirsty and Alex’s wedding catering, where possible, from my favourite trusted local suppliers; getting the Freshest Meat, Fruit, Cheese, Ice Cream and Sorbets from people who live right on my doorstep… (Quite literally – my butcher lives 5 doors down!)

Kirsty and Alex’s special day spoke volumes about them as a couple; it was quirky and original and their wedding catering reflected that! It was a pleasure to help them design a menu for their special day, and an even greater pleasure to share it with them. As always, a huge Thank you to my lovely team for all their hard work on the day, and a big thanks to Joanne Withers for her fantastic photography skills. Check her out here.
